Synopsis
For 20 years, my mom used a cookie-tin raffle for every family expense—and I always drew "full payment." She called it fairness. I thought I was unlucky. Then the sofa delivery guy said she picked it out two weeks before the raffle. The invoice already had my name. I found the tin's hidden compartment and realized: I was never unlucky. I was played. So when my brother wanted a $50K car and Mom reached for the tin, I smiled. This time, I was playing her game—better.
